Enel, a leading multinational energy company, has received authorization to begin commercial operation of its innovative Valle del Sol photovoltaic farm in Chile. This large-scale solar power project significantly expands Enel’s renewable energy capacity and contributes to the company’s ambitious sustainability goals.

The Valle del Sol farm boasts an impressive capacity of 162.8 MW, sufficient to generate clean, low-carbon electricity for more than 168,000 households annually. By reducing reliance on fossil fuels, the photovoltaic farm aligns with international climate goals aimed at cutting greenhouse gas emissions and transitioning to renewable energy sources.

Enel’s commitment to clean energy generation is highlighted by its investment of $190 billion in renewable energy. As a leading Chilean renewable energy company, Enel’s portfolio of 2.933 MW includes wind, solar, hydroelectric and geothermal power. The Valle del Sol photovoltaic farm is a significant addition to this portfolio, illustrating Enel’s dedication to driving the global clean energy transition.

“With this new plant’s operational launch, we are continuing our growth and development strategy of renewable energies in Chile. Thus, we continue to add clean energy to the National Electric System. We continue to be leaders in managing and developing renewable projects, supporting the national energy transition process,” said Fabrizio Barderi, Enel Chile’s general manager.

The photovoltaic farm’s commercial operation will stimulate local economic growth by creating job opportunities during the construction and operation phases. It will also attract investment in the region, providing long-term benefits for the local community.

Employing advanced solar power technology, the Valle del Sol farm showcases the potential for large-scale renewable energy projects. The project’s successful integration with the existing grid infrastructure ensures a stable and efficient power supply for consumers.

With the authorization to start operations, Enel can now sell the electricity generated by the Valle del Sol farm to consumers, businesses, or the grid. As the world collectively works toward securing a greener future, the Valle del Sol photovoltaic farm serves as an important reminder of the power of innovation and collaboration in solving pressing global challenges.
