In a move signaling a significant acceleration in Finland’s renewable energy sector, the Vestas and Neoen partnership has secured a 161 MW order for two major wind projects in the country. This bold step reinforces the collaboration between these green energy giants, showcasing Vestas’ capacity for adaptability and the robust ambition of Neoen to lead the renewable energy revolution in Finland. The project not only highlights the strength of their partnership, but also sets a promising precedent for the future of sustainable energy on a global scale.

The Strength of Vestas and Neoen Partnership

Anna Schlasberg Wachtmeister, Vice President Sales for Northern and Central Europe at Vestas, shares, “Vestas and Neoen have a strong history of successful project deliveries in Finland, and we are excited to continuing the partnership with this new order. This order also underlines the versatility of Vestas’ EnVentus platform and its ability to provide our customers with business case certainty in different sites.”

The order comprises two wind projects: The 105 MW Storbötet project in the municipality of Uusikaarlepyy consisting of 17 V162-6.2 MW wind turbines, and the 56 MW Lumivaara project in the municipality of Hyrynsalmi featuring nine V162-6.2 MW wind turbines.

Service and Sustainability: Vestas’ Commitment

In addition to providing the turbines, Vestas will support these projects with a 20-year Active Output Management 5000 (AOM 5000) service agreement. This program is designed to ensure the turbines’ optimized performance, highlighting Vestas’ commitment to long-term service and sustainability.

Neoen’s Ambition: Driving Renewable Energy Leadership

On the other side of the Vestas and Neoen partnership, Neoen Finland’s Managing Director, Jerri Loikkanen, voices his enthusiasm, “It’s a great pleasure to be working with Vestas once again. This co-operation is a natural continuation after the successful delivery of Mutkalampi wind farm (404 MW). Neoen has the ambition to become the leader in renewable energy in Finland and the support of trusted industrial partners is essential to accelerate our development.”

The Future of Wind Energy in Finland

Turbine delivery for both projects is scheduled to commence in the early third quarter of 2024, with both wind farms expected to be fully operational by 2025. These developments exemplify the forward momentum of renewable energy efforts in Finland, spearheaded by industry leaders like Vestas and Neoen.

In conclusion, the Vestas and Neoen partnership presents a compelling case for the future of renewable energy in Finland and beyond. Their collaboration, rooted in shared goals and commitments, promises to drive the sustainability agenda forward. As we witness these significant strides, we are encouraged to ponder on the vast potential of renewable energy.
